Objectives
From small things......
'Trentham to Arusha' started its life as an idle conversation in the pub between two motorcycling friends in the Spring of 2007. Initially it was a simple plan for two ordinary people to ride their 'bikes from the UK to a small children's charity in Arusha, Tanzania and to raise a bit of money as a side issue. Over the last few months the project has grown in size and scope.
Today.....
Our task has grown in that we are now focused upon raising a truly significant amount of money on behalf of the Tearfunds 'Work a Miracle' campaign fighting Mother to Child transmission of the AIDS virus across Africa. In addition we will also be donating money to Birmingham Children's Hospital in the UK as well as the Seeway Trust's childrens houses in Arusha as originally planned! To help us do this we now have commercial sponsors and supporters who between them are covering the costs of the ride and all its equipment so that every penny pledged and donated by you can be passed directly to the charities we support!
Our Fund-Raising Target.....
'Trentham to Arusha' aims to raise more than £100,000 towards the three charities we support. The funds will be split between the three on the following basis within one month of the riders return to the UK in Mid-October 2008.
Tearfund's 'Work a Miracle Campaign' - 60%
Birmingham Children's Hospital - 20%
Seeway Trust - Tanzania - 20%
